Mountain of the Dead by Jeremy Bates

Mountain of the DeadMountain of the Dead by Jeremy Bates

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

On the night of 1st February 1959, nine hikers in Siberia inexplicably cut their way out of their tent and flee into the snow. When the group are reported as missing, they are later all found dead. The state of their bodies, and their injuries seem to defy explanation. So far this story is 100% true. The Dyatlov Pass is named after the leader of the group who all lost their lives on that mountainside.

In the present day an American writer tries to track down evidence to explain what may have happened to the group.

In this novel events are dramatised and expanded upon to attempt to make an explanation to what may have happened that fateful night. With some extreme artistic license taken in places…

You certainly feel the cold when reading this book.
