This is an intriguing book. It gives you quite a lot to think about. There’s the politics and the underhanded way the CHOAM business is run, and therefore the governing of the entire planet. There’s the religious aspect of the “Bene Gesserit”. Is Paul the “chosen one”? And there’s the science of terra-forming an entire planet to become more habitable for human life. A long-game for the inhabitants of that world.
It’s not the easiest book to read! I had to persevere in places where not a lot happened (but they *were* in the middle of a desert and trying to simply survive.. so it was supposed to be hard-going!).
I’m going to have to re-watch the movie soon also, to see if I understand the story more now that I’ve read the base text!
Obviously this is the first novel in a series, and therefore it ends somewhat abruptly. Clearly setting up the subsequent books. Probably worth your time if you’re into epic fantasy. I will need a bit of a break before picking up the next one!
