My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An excellent re-telling of the old myths. For someone (like me) who knew “of” the myths, but didn’t know any of the detail – this is a great narrative which brings them all together.
Stephen Fry, using his usual mix of wit, erudition, and humour brings the Titans, Gods, and Demi-Gods alive. From the very beginning of the Earth’s creation to the inter-personal (and inter-bred!) relationships of the individuals involved.

Focusing on the top-level stories of the Gods, this volume gives you the mythological background upon which the subsequent Hero stories of the Greek Legends are played out. And those are the subject of Fry’s next book in the series.

And for those of you who watch “Eggheads” in the UK – this will come in handy for the “General Knowledge” round! Which seems to ALWAYS start with: “In Greek mythology, who was…..?”.
