The Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa

The Travelling Cat ChroniclesThe Travelling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A beautiful story. If a bit sad!
Satoru adopts a stray cat he calls Nana. Nana means “seven” in Japanese, and he is so named due to the shape of the markings on his coat which resemble the character for 7. The story is told from both the perspective of Satoru, and of Nana himself. Satoru takes Nana on a road trip to see various old friends, he needs to find Nana a new home as he cannot keep him for much longer.
Nana has his own ideas about that, and tries to sabotage his efforts.

Told via the means of flashbacks to Satoru’s childhood and experiences with his friends, and through the unique perspective of the cat, this story unfolds to make you feel every emotional decision yourself. Prepare to have your heart warmed… and then broken.
